James Dixon & sons maker mark trumpet mark and registration number 8548 and E. Engraved on the back bottom. The ribbon garland by hand engraving (hand-carved with a needle or chisel) is very cute. Founded in 1806 in Sheffield by James Dixon and Thomas Smith. He won various awards at the 1851 Great Exhibition and partnered with renowned designer Christopher Dresser in the 1880s.
