This is a fine and substantial hallmarked silver tea and coffee 4 piece set consisting of teapot, coffee pot, milk jug and sugar bowl. It was made by Daniel & Charles Houle and all 4 pieces are clearly hallmarked for London 1869. The set is in very good condition and has been made with a heavy gauge of silver. One of the cartouches is engraved on each piece engraved with a shield and the Latin motto "Victrix Patientia Duris" which translates to patience is victorious in hardship.
Hallmarks are clearly struck to all 4 pieces. There are cast silver finials to both pots and cast silver feet to all pieces. Panelled decoration to the bodies and heat insulators to the decorated handles of the tea and coffee pots. This is a high quality and very attractive Victorian silver set.
