Presented is a fabulous Gorham sterling silver 6 piece tea set, dated 1889. The pieces are all done in a handsome classical style, with a ribbed design on the lids and lower portions of the bodies. Each piece has a monogram of W in elegant script on one side.
The pieces are all clean and ready for use, polished to a bright mirror shine on the exterior and spotless on the interior. Kettle on stand--12 3/4 inches tall on stand, 8 7/8 inches tall without stand. Capacity of 7 cups (56 fluid ounces/1.7 liters). Capacity of 4 1/2 cups (36 fluid ounces/1.1 liters).
Coffee pot-- 7 7/8 inches tall. Capacity of 5 1/4 cups (42 fluid ounces/1.2 liters). Sugar bowl--8 inches from handle to handle, 4 3/4 inches tall. Waste bowl--5 inches in diameter, 2 1/2 inches tall. Each piece is stamped on the underside with the Gorham maker's mark as well as sterling and a date symbol of Queen Victoria's head for 1889.
