Presented is a handsome 3 piece sterling silver tea set by the Barbour Silver Company. Each piece is raised on a pedestal base and has an elegant ruffled rim.The teapot or coffee pot has a domed cover and a carved black wood handle. The set is monogrammed JBD.
This set was made in the first quarter of the 1900s. The set includes: Teapot or coffee pot: 7 3/8 inches wide from handle to spout and 8 1/4 inches tall Creamer: 4 5/8 inches wide from handle to spout and 3 1/2 inches tall Sugar bowl: 5 5/8 inches wide across the handles and 3 inches tall All three pieces are hallmarked on the underside with B. C for Barbour Silver Company, Sterling, and a product number.The set is in great overall condition. The teapot or coffee pot has a couple of dents on the front to the right of the monogram.
There are also some other dents on the other side at the widest point. There is also some surface wear commensurate with age and light use and a few small dings here and there, but this is minor. There are no splits, no breaks, and no repairs. The total weight is 582.8 grams or 20.4 ounces.
