1831 Antique 3pc Sterling Silver Tea Set Bachelor's Teapot Creamer Sugar Set

Presented is a wonderful three piece sterling silver tea set. The teapot dates to 1831 and was made by Richard Pierce & George Burrows. The creamer and the sugar bowl are later American pieces, custom made to match the teapot.

The pieces are beautifully decorated with a continuous swag design around the upper portion and a ribbed design around the lower portion. The interiors are clean as can be. All the pieces are well made from thick heavy gauge sterling silver, with a nice feeling of weight in the hand. The teapot is a small size, like a bachelor's teapot.

Teapot-- Measures about 7 1/2 inches from handle to spout, stands about 4 inches tall. Capacity of 1.5 cups (12 fluid ounces/0.4 liter). Creamer-- 3 1/4 inches tall at the highest point. Sugar bowl-- 3 1/4 inches tall at the highest point. The teapot is hallmarked on the underside with the lion passant for sterling silver, the leopard's head for the city of London, the date letter q for 1831, King George IV's head duty mark, and the maker's mark for Richard Pierce & George Burrows. The sugar and creamer were made later, to match the teapot. They are both stamped with a C & S maker's mark as well as sterling. Unfortunately we cannot identify this maker's mark. This set is in great overall condition. The wooden handle of the teapot looks like it has an old repair, but it is still very sturdy. There are no splits, no leaks, no dents, no monograms, no monogram removals, and no solder repairs. The total weight for the set is 609 grams or 21.5 regular ounces.
