Offered is a gorgeous estate found antique 3 piece sterling or coin silver tea service by Gorham of Providence, RI. Each of the 3 pieces are stamped with the Gorham hallmarks dating from 1863-67. Presented with an oval (unmarked) silverplated American tray of sympathetic design, featuring hand chasing and bead interior border. Crafted of heavy gauge silver in the neoclassical / American Greek Revival style, with cast cameo medallions applied to the sides and finely detailed hand chasing, cast Greek key and beaded bands, with ribbon bows on handles. Even the teapot spout features an applied classical cameo.
All three pieces feature a period Gothic style monogram with an armorial crest. This sumptuous service exudes luxury and quality.
The service comprises: a tea pot, creamer, and open sugar bowl. Comes with oval silverplated tray of unknown maker. All pieces have clean interiors and secure handles, and interior of creamer has nice gilding intact. A couple of tiny, minor dings here and there as one would expect from a used set over 160 years old.
