This a very attractive Georgian sterling silver tea set consisting of teapot, sugar bowl and milk jug. All 3 pieces bear the same armorial and so undoubtedly a set. The teapot was made by Crispin Fuller or Charles Fox 1 and hallmarked in London 1807, the other 2 pieces were made by Solomon Hougham and both hallmarked in London 1818.The set is in very good condition though there is evidence of the removal of initials from the teapot. The armorial is of a mythical animal eating leaves and this appears on all 3 pieces.
Gadroon decoration to the rims and a wavy band design to the body. The teapot lid fits perfectly and the wooden handle incorporates a thumbpiece. Hallmarks are clearly struck to the teapot, makers marks to the other 2 pieces partially rubbed but readable. The set is offered at a substantially discounted price to reflect being by two makers and the repair to the teapot through removal of initials even though not terribly obvious. Weight 914 gms (32 ozs).
