Lots of Christmas items listed for the most joyful and triumphant of all seasons so please check out my other listings! This is an awesome collection of four antique sterling silver Christmas spoons made by two of the quality American silversmiths of the time - Watson and International / Simpson Hall & Miller - all pieces dating to the early 1900s. All very ornate and lovely! The International spoon comes from their flower of the month series which has beautiful high relief details, and the Watson spoons in the set represent their Floral Series #2, #3, and #4! NO MONOGRAMS or engravings on any of the pieces which is harder to find since many of these were personalized or given as gifts or souvenirs.
It is amazing how detailed they made antique sterling flatware back in the day, little works of art. Collected from various places and assembled as a set by me - for your table! Would be perfect for a tea or coffee or a dessert service. They would really accent your Christmas table and they are nice quality spoons, not like some of the more lightweight and delicate pieces out there. Special little collection, Four items in all!All pieces are decorated on both sides. International Sterling Flower of the Month Series, Holly December spoon - Measures 6 inches, detailed embossed pattern. Watson Mechanics Holly and Mistletoe Floral Series #2 spoon, measures 6 inches. Has "December" written up the handle, this one is especially heavy, it weighs 33 grams on its own.
The bowl of the spoon appears slightly rippled, no deep dents or pin dings, and it is not visible from the back of the spoon bowl so nothing pushed through, but can definitely feel the ripples when you run your fingers over the spoon bowl. Still a very thick spoon though, the bowl is not bendable. Watson Mechanics Holly from their Floral Series #3 spoon with art nouveau ribbons up and down the handle, measures 5 3/8 in length. Some more surface and utensil scratches in the spoon bowl. Watson Holly and Mistletoe from their Floral Series #4 spoon, reticulated / cutout design with a shield shaped handle, measures 5 3/4 inches. Sturdy pieces, not easily bendable like some of the more delicate pieces out there. Total weight is about 112 grams on my little digital scale. All of them have designs up the handle and some have back detail. Very ornate, detailed Holly and Mistletoe images. All are marked Sterling with the appropriate makers marks.
Please note the details above, these are all in varying used condition with some scuffs and scratching as well as surface wear from use and polishing. They all have a few utensil scratches in the bowls and light scuffs on the back where they meet the table but no damage to any of the patterns on the handle.
Could probably benefit from a a professional polish to remove some of the shallow surface wear. These have all been hand polished but I like to leave some patina so the high relief designs really stand out. Due to age they are not mint condition items. All have held their shape perfectly, no bends, I don't see any pin dings or dents either.I have many more packs of spoons listed so please see my other auctions and create a set!
